James Parks Gibson was born Nov. 18, 1793 in Blount County, Tennessee to John and Martha (Parks) Gibson. James arrived in Xenia, Ohio in 1826. He was married to Sarah Kendall by Rev. James Adams on February 21, 1826. James died on August 4, 1849 and was buried in Massie's Creek cemetery.
