Note: The headstone uses the age at death as 28y 11m 11d. That differs from the obituary age given. The DOB used on the memorial is calculated from the headstone DOD and AGED info; pending any further clarification. Death records in Iowa and Jefferson county were not recorded until 1880 and after, so there is no easy way to reconcile the headstone and obituary information with any official documentation.

I've attached an 1870 US Census to Richard Carpenter. The residence is Shawnee, Johnson, Kansas, so I don't know if this is the same, but interestingly, there are some Forsythe's living in the household. One is from PA and one from Ohio. This needs more research. RF
