Note

Simeon was given his maternal grandmother's maiden name for his middle name. His 3 younger siblings also had Walton for a middle name.

Simeon's father was 70 yrs. old when Simeon was born, and died when he was only 8. His mother remarried within a few months to Lewis Jackson and moved her family from VA to Boyle Co.,Ky. in1812.

Simeon married Mary Elizabeth Wade on 10/15/1823 in Lincoln Co.,Ky and they moved to Butler Co.,Ky between 1826 and 1829 where they lived until their deaths.

Simeon was generally know as "Sim" to his friends. He was active in the Methodist Church, as were all his brothers and sisters. He also served as magistrate in Butler Co.and farmed until his death.

In his fathers will, he expressed the desire for his 4 youngest children,of which Simeon was one of the 4,should have a genteel education. He willed 1/3 of his estate to Elizabeth to pay for the education out of the profits. If Elizabeth is to remarry then that part of his estate is to be returned to his other estate and divided equally between his youngest 4 children.

Some years after his mothers death, Sim sold the dower Negros, which was assigned to his Mother from the estate of Henry Hines,to his oldest half brother John Hines of Warren Co. Most of Simeon's half brothers and sisters, the children of his father's marriage to Dorcas Kelly, lived in Warren Co., although some lived in Butler Co. All the offspring of Henry's Hines second marriage lived in Butler Co.

Mary Elizabeth died in 1840,sometime after the birth of her 9th child on Feb.29,1940 and was buried in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Ohio Co. Sim then married Lucinda Young, by whom he had 4 more children.Sim continued to live in Butler Co.,through the 1840 and 1850 census but was living in Ohio Co., for the 1870 Census.

After Lucinds's death, Simeon married for the third time to Mary Ann Burger on Oct.18,1855 at the home of Mrs. Winnie Burger and in the presence of John M. Carson and J.W. Burger. Mary Ann was born in 1808 and it is uncertain if she had been married before.

By the 1870 census he was apparently widowed again because he was living with one of his daughters on a farm near Hudnal Cemetery in Ohio Co.

Sim died sometime after June 19,1873, when he had signed a deed to James M.Leach, and before March 16,1875 when the heirs of his estate signed a deed to give Caroline some land. Apparently the land was some he had intended to give to Caroline but died before getting it done.

He was buried at the Hudnal Cemetery although the condition of the cemetery is such that the stone can't be located. There were only 16 stones left at last report, most being damaged when a farmer turned his hogs into the area. While a marker can't be found, an old letter in the possession of the Hines family, states that both Simeon and his son-in-law George Wilson are buried there.
