Note: Eileen L. McCombs, 84, of Terre Haute died at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was a former beautician. She was born Nov. 5, 1920, in Terre Haute to Freeman J. Furr and Isal Keller Furr. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Joseph R. McCombs; two daughters, Diana Bechtel and her husband Gerald of Terre Haute and Patricia Keep and her husband James of Terre Haute; a son-in-law, James Jones of Terre Haute; a sister-in-law, Mary Alice Griffith of Clinton; eight grandchildren, Julie Dickison and her husband Caral, Matt Hall and his wife Sara, Carrie Bechtel, Michael Bechtel, Roxanne Jones, Rachelle Jones, James S. Keep and his wife Kathryn, and Douglas Keep; six great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Edward, Kristie-Ann, Katelyn, Evan and Ariel; and several nieces and nephews and cousins, including Wandalene Sowers of Wallace. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Kay McCombs and Brenda Lee Jones; and two grandchildren, Jared Jones and Bethany Sue Jones. She was a member of St. Joseph University Parish, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 Auxiliary, Red Hat Ladies Society and was a volunteer at West Vigo Elementary School. Prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. Monday in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Joseph University Parish, with the Rev. Paul Schloemer officiating. Burial is in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with rosary at 7:30 in the funeral home. If friends so desire, memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Joseph University Parish, 113 S. Fifth St., Terre Haute, IN 47807.
